Up For A Hunt

Jacael began his way through the Twilight Pines. He was the scout, he would have to stay close to the group to warm them of trouble nearby.

"Now Raven whats the first rule you should always keep in mind while hunting." Bryn said, her ears perked as she walked silently through the forest.

"pay attention" as he walked next to the bryn as he was looking around

"What else?" She asked, stopping while her blue eyes gazed curiously at him.

Jacael darted a pace or two ahead of the group t see if anything was up ahead.

"be quite?" as he stopped and looked back at her confused not quite knowing what to say

The wolf could tell the Rookie didn't know much, but he wasn't supposed to. He was just a Rookie, but the hunting steps were basic. Then again, he was never really good at hunting.

"Those are things that should be obvious." Bryn said patiently. "The number one rule is to always and I mean ALWAYS keep down wind of your prey."

Croutching down slightly the blue wolf signaled with her tail for Raven to copy her. "Walk how I walk." She whospered before moving her body forward, paws swiftly yet silently grazing the ground.

"Rabbit up ahead!" The wolf quietly barked to Bryn.

Good.

"Watch what I do, Raven, and keep close."

Stalking forward she scented the air, until the tang of rabbit filled her senses. Rabbit were prey for the more skilled hunters. Like herself. With a twitch of her ear she halted, before gathering her haunches and tensing. The rabbit was there, chewing on some grass. Oblivious. Excellent. Leaping forward her paws landed next to the rabbit, jaws coming down to snap into its neck. Teeth met flesh and the rabbit squealed before its cry was cut short. She had caught it.

doing what bryn did he crouched down and let his paws graze the ground being as silent as possible watching the rabbit then when she sprang up and attacked the rabbit he stayed in place Knowing that a rabbit was for the more skilled because they were so fast but then he smelled the rabbit and knew that the hunt was over and they would be going back to the camp " good job bryn that was really cool"

Jacael stalked away quietly to go and see if he found any other creature, possibly harder than rabbits. Maybe they could practice with a toad.

"Come lets go to the open area deeper in the forest. Bryn said, before picking the rabbit up and walking away. They couldnt hunt here anymore. Most of the prey would be hiding after the rabbits warning. Besides, the clearing was a great place to watch rookies and help correct them in a more open area.

Jacael bounded ahead to join the group and scout for more prey. He had a good nose, fighters needed that to smell out who thy were attacking.

"okay lets go" as he excitedly followed her

As they walked into the clearing she halted and sniffed the air. No danger. Good. "Come now. Both of you. It wont hurt to sharpen your hunting skills as well, even though you are a fighter."

"okay" as he comes up behind bryn still trying to be as quite as possible not wanting to disappoint his alpha or elder wolf that was training him but his stomach was starting to rumble.

Jacael followed the Alpha with a nod. He could use this hunting training.
