Dirt encrusted in young Flamma's wild red fur, the small pup collapsed. Hot tears dribbled down her face, and she stared down at the ravine below her. How quickly bad memories can flood back. Flamma was padding along the side of a ravine, sniffing for herbs that would cure her ill brother. She stumbled, finding herself plummeting down the narrow ravine. Luckily, it wasn't a long fall, but her front right leg was snapped in to two. Flamma buried her dirty face in her good leg and sobbed. Why had Mama abandoned her? Why couldn't she have tried to nurse her back to health? Why did her brothers have to die? That was when she heard voices. Ears pricked, she listened for more. She wasn't imagining - there were other wolves nearby! Was that a good thing, or a bad thing? Ears straining for more of the comforting sound of voices, Flamma stood and limped along. "Hello? Will someone please help me?"

Sacha was out on a routine patrol of the area, as he normally did. This task would usually fall on the beta but this Alpha believed that it was also his responsibility when it involved the safety of his pack. He sniffed at the red dirt beneath his large paws, searching for any sign of activity, whether it was rival wolf packs or predators in the area. His ears perked up when he heard faint cries in the distance. It sounded like cries of distress so he acted immediately. The male could tell by the scent he picked up that it was just a pup, probably one who was just weened, who got separated from it's mother. He trot closer to the edge of the ravine, mindful of the crumbling edges as he approached, "Who's there?" he asked in a stern yet gentle voice.

The small pup glanced up, backing away from the crumbling edge of the ravine. Taking a deep breath, Flamma yipped, "M-my name is Flamma. I'm a loner. My Mommy abandoned me, and my brothers have died. I was wondering if I could maybe stay here for a while." Amber optics glancing up at the much larger wolf, she tucked her orange tail between her legs and flattened her ears. "I didn't mean to intrude, I just. . ." The wolf pup shook her head as tears tried to spill over. No. Stay calm and maybe he'll let you stay.

Sacha wasn’t suspicious of a lost pup; he was just miffed at how far she must have wandered until finding her way into the territory. He glanced around the edge of the ravine, searching for a way down to her. He spotted a slopping in the cliff’s edge further down, if he was careful he could get down easily; getting back up would be the tricky part, “Hold on, I’m coming down to get you.” He called to the pup as he carefully descended onto the small ledge. The ground crumbled bit-by-bit beneath his paws but he was able to keep his footing as he inched his way closer to the pup.
